$10,000 CAD discount on Canadian college tuition, hurricane in Ontario and Quebec, and other Canadian news

Scholarships for international students, a hail storm in Central Canada, the French Language Respect Act, payments to Ukrainians, a virtual job fair and other news from May 16-29.

Last weekend, a storm hit Central Canada. There were fatalities. 250,000 homes were without power, and in some areas it took days to restore power. Our project founder Alex Pavlenko's home was left with a damaged roof, watch a video of the storm's aftermath.

The Atlantic Canada Virtual Job Fair is open for registration. The deadline is June 2. First and foremost needed are working and support professionals, storekeepers, and sales managers. But anyone with a year of full-time experience can register. You will need to fill out a questionnaire, provide a resume, and record a short video about yourself.

Laws and bills

After a year of discussions, Quebec has passed a new law that changes the French Language Charter. Now immigrants must learn French in six months. All court proceedings and official documents are in French only. Language police can search organizations without a warrant. The Minister of the French Language has been given the right to deprive entire municipalities of subsidies and grants if he considers that they violate the French Language Charter.

Canada's Parliament is debating two bills related to immigration. The Department of Immigration wants to select candidates for specific professions through federal programs, but has not yet provided a plan on how to decide which professionals are needed nationwide. The Conservative Party has proposed easing entry for relatives on supervisors — lowering the minimum income requirements for the invitee and allowing the purchase of insurance policies from foreign companies.

Hearing dates have been set in a case challenging the constitutional right of Canadians to travel freely. A federal court will decide whether it is legal to ban flights for those who are unwilling or unable to be vaccinated against the coronavirus. Right now, 15% of Canadians are forced to either travel in their cars or stay where they live. Without a vaccination certificate, one cannot fly on airplanes or ride trains within the country or travel abroad. Because of the inspections, there are huge lines at airports, and flights are often delayed. Officials blame undisciplined passengers and a shortage of airport workers. Arguments for and against requiring vaccination certificates will be considered until the end of June. The first meeting will be held Sept. 19.

Help for Ukrainians

Ukrainians in Canada have been promised single payments. Every adult on a Canada-Ukraine Emergency Entry Permit will receive $3,000 CAD, and every child will receive $1,500 CAD. Applications for benefits will start being accepted online June 2. A separate bank account will need to be set up. Parents and guardians may submit one application for the whole family.

Prices and costs in Canada

Housing in Canada is getting cheaper. Prices have fallen 6 percent each month since a sharp rise in February. Since February, the average home price has fallen to $746,000 CAD. That's still more expensive than it was in 2021, but already more affordable. The Canadian Association of Realtors estimated that the strongest price increase since last year was in the Atlantic provinces.

Inflation in North America continues to rise, with food and gasoline gradually becoming more expensive. A survey showed that many Canadians still want to take a summer road trip by car if flying somewhere is still difficult. But sales of Canada's most popular cars, SUVs and crossovers, are down 7% for the first quarter of 2022. Sales of the rest of the cars were down 18 percent. If you're wondering what SUVs people are buying in a country where you can't do without a car outside the metropolitan area, we've translated the list of 10 best-selling SUVs and crossovers for you.

Despite the high cost of living in Canada, Canadians make good money. So well that they can afford to buy 15% more goods than the British, even though groceries in Canada are now 37% more expensive than in the UK. Frequency of "move abroad" requests from the British has increased by 1,000% in recent months. The United States of America tops the list of countries they want to move to from the U.K., with Canada in second place.

Immigration selections

Immigration shenanigans were held by four provinces in those two weeks.

There were three drawings in British Columbia. May 17 the province sent out 154 invitations in the general selection and 31 invitations to in-demand candidates. The province still needs kindergarten teachers and health care professionals. May 24 they were invited too. In total, B.C. sent out 322 invitations as a result of these selections.

May 19 the province of Alberta invited 100 people.

Prince Edward Island invited a record number of people in this year's monthly drawing, which was held May 20. Sixteen entrepreneurs and 137 migrant workers received invitations, for a total of 153 people.

Manitoba held May 20 the fourth selection for Ukrainians only. The province invited 13 people who had previously expressed a desire to stay in Manitoba for permanent residence.

Also, Immigration Canada May 25 invited 589 provincial nominees to apply for permanent residency.

Campaign for foreign applicants

Georgian College in Toronto is partnering with Canada's top English school to offer a discounted tuition rate. You'll get 12 weeks of free English study, admission without international certificates, and a $2,500 CAD scholarship per semester.

If you are from Russia, you do not need to travel to another country before immigrating to Canada and pay $200 USD or more for an exam to get a certificate of language proficiency. You learn English online while our immigration company processes and submits your documents for your study visa. After 12 free weeks of study, you take the internal exam, which is enough for college admission.

Your studies will begin in January or May 2023. Within a year or two, you'll have a sought-after major, a Canadian college degree, and a guaranteed chance to stay in the country permanently. After you graduate, you are eligible to apply for a work permit. You will be able to work for 20 hours a week while you are still a student. With a Canadian diploma and work experience, you can stay in Canada for permanent residency.

The college has four programs of study for high school graduates and six for people with a high school or college education. One program is for system administrators, one for programmers, one for medical administrators, and the rest are business-related. The most expensive program, if you get the maximum discount, will cost you $13,086 CAD per year, which is cheap for Canada. See the link above for all program names, deadlines, and rates.

We take care of all the paperwork. The cost of our assistance in applying for a visa starts at $1,000 CAD. From this amount we will deduct the cost of the initial consultation if you sign a contract. See the link to book your visa odds consultation in the description to this video. The offer is valid until the end of February 2023.
