A new immigration project in Ontario

The two-year pilot project should attract businessmen to the province.

The government Ontario has selected the Toronto Business Development Centre (TBDC) to design, launch and implement a two-year pilot project to attract entrepreneurs. Plans to launch such a project were announced back in November 2021, when the provincial Finance Ministry released its 2021 report and listed the measures needed to stabilize the economy. At that time, the province pledged to invest $6 million CAD in the pilot over three years.

The winning Toronto Business Development Centre will help 100 immigrant entrepreneurs start businesses or buy existing ones in small communities across the province outside the Greater Toronto Area. The center is committed to looking first at regions that were hardest hit economically during the pandemic.

Entrepreneurs will immigrate through the existing stream, the conditions of which can be found here. From the selection history you can see that the province has invited few entrepreneurs in recent years. Applications in the pilot project are promised to be considered on a priority basis. Details will be published soon.
