How to submit biometric data for obtaining a Canadian visa
Step-by-step guide to submitting biometrics for Canada.
Step 1
After submitting your application on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website, you'll receive three emails:
- An application summary (all the information you provided to the ministry)
- A confirmation letter with your application date and number
- A biometrics instruction letter with barcodes

If you've already provided biometrics for a Canadian visa, they're valid for ten years, so you don't need to do it again. The same applies if you've had a Canadian visa before and can prove it.
The CUAET program initially had simplified requirements for certain groups of Ukrainians: children up to 17 years old and people over 60 were exempt from mandatory biometrics before entering Canada. They were supposed to provide fingerprints and photos after arrival. Currently, standard biometrics requirements apply to individuals aged 14 to 79.
Step 2
Schedule an appointment at a convenient visa application center, choosing a suitable date and time. You can find Canadian visa application centers in Europe here.
Step 3
Print the three emails you received and bring them to the visa application center at your appointed time. At the center, you'll get a ticket and wait your turn to provide your biometrics.
First, you'll fill out and sign a consent form for biometrics. Then, your information will be entered into the database. You'll provide fingerprints using a small scanning device. After that, they'll take your photo. A barcode will be attached to your passport.
Step 4
Wait for the ministry's decision on your visa application. It should appear in your IRCC account within two to three days. Once you receive this letter, print it out and go to the visa application center to submit your passport, without an appointment. However, requirements may vary between centers, so confirm this step when you provide your biometrics. If it's inconvenient to visit the center again, you can pay for courier services to have your passport with the visa delivered to you.
