Alberta held a selection with a record high passing score

There were only two higher-scoring selections in 2021.

On November 9, as part of the provincial immigration program, the Alberta government sent out 200 invitations to apply for nomination from the province. The drawing was held among applicants who participated in the provincial immigration stream with selection through Express Entry.

The minimum passing score on the complex ranking system was 343. This is a very high score for the draws for this program — 43 points higher than it was in the previous selection, which took place on October 26.

To be invited into the drawing, applicants had to have a profile in the Express Entry system, which Canada uses to process applications for permanent residence under the three federal immigration programs:

Candidates who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 points. This almost guarantees an invitation in a subsequent Express Entry drawing.

To increase your chances of receiving an invitation from the Province of Alberta, keep an eye on history of passing scores and number of invitations.
