More opportunities for entrepreneurs in Canada
One province is offering more cities for businessmen to immigrate to.
British Columbia is expanding the list of communities to which people can immigrate under its pilot regional immigration program for entrepreneurs. So far, 22 localities are participating in the pilot, but the province is now accepting applications from other cities that are interested in attracting business people. Already 50 cities have applied to participate.
The regional programme for entrepreneurs launched in 2019 and has been extended until 31 March 2024. It aims to support the economy in cities with a population of less than 75,000 people. The pilot allows permanent residency for those who want to open a business in one of the participating municipalities.
According to the requirements of the pilot program, an entrepreneur must own a capital of at least $300,000 CAD and be willing to invest at least $100,000 CAD into his/her business. It is also necessary to obtain approval from the city where the business is planned.
