Top 10 remote professions to work in Canada
Professions you can work for Canadian companies while living in your home country.
Now, according to official statistics, 40% of Canadians work remotely, and 25% of employers have no intention of moving their employees to offices. All of this, of course, is thanks to the pandemic. Companies have realized that it is possible to organize work from home and not to spend money on renting and maintaining offices, and employees have realized that they do not want to go back to regular workplaces.
I have prepared for you the top 10 remote professions that are in demand in Canada. And I will also tell you about the nuances of such employment and how you can work for a Canadian company if you are in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan or any other country.
Top remote professions
In tenth place by demand are project managers. They are expected to be in high demand because companies have moved to remote work and are moving all business online. Therefore we need people who can organize everything, distribute duties and keep track of deadlines.
Ninth place — social media managers. The reason is the same: businesses work online, attract customers through social networks, and they need to compete with other companies. By the way, there will be similar professions further down the list.
The next profession is accountants. This is due to the fact that last year was not the same as before, for example, companies received benefits or help from the government, so you need people who are good at taxes. But the profession is not suitable for everyone, but rather for those who are already in Canada, because different countries have different tax systems, and accountants need to retrain.
In seventh place are digital marketers. This specialty is somewhat similar to social media managers, only marketers are more concerned with business promotion.
Then there are the data analysts. They analyse all sorts of information, such as sales figures, the effectiveness of social networks, marketing trends, and so on.
I've already made it to number five. These are IT consultants. I think you can already guess why. With remote work, technology is everywhere, so companies really need people who are good at it.

Recruitment and HR specialists. It turns out that they are even more in demand than IT specialists, because because because of the pandemic it is necessary to help employees adapt to the new format of work, plus at the beginning of the pandemic many were cut, but now, on the contrary, there are not enough employees. But there will still be IT specialists.
So, the top three.
The third place is occupied by technical support specialists. This is due to the fact that online sales have risen sharply over the year. The support service can help both the company itself when something does not work, and customers if they have problems.
The second line goes to administrative assistants. These professionals, by the way, top the overall list of the most in-demand professions in Canada this year. They are involved in organizing work, scheduling meetings, creating reports and so on.
And at the top of the list... call center operators. Again, all because of the pandemic, because at first companies had outages, when everyone suddenly started booking online, airlines gave refunds for tickets, then they started loosening restrictions, everyone started planning holidays again... In general, everything is constantly changing. A small disadvantage: operators need good English or French.
Features of working remotely in Canada
I have named the professions, now I will tell you about remote work. In Canada, many people work under contract, but not as employees, but as independent contractors. Simply put, they are self-employed. They get paid and pay their own taxes. Likewise, a Canadian employer can hire a self-employed person from any country, as long as the work is remote.
When you join a Canadian company as an employee, the employer has to do a LMIA, which means filling out a lot of paperwork and paying a fee of about $1000 CAD. Self-employed people are not affected by this, so legally it makes no difference to the employer whether to hire a self-employed Canadian or, for example, a Russian. You can be self-employed in your own country.
But there is a disadvantage here: this format of cooperation will not help in immigration in any way, it does not count as Canadian work experience, and your employer will not be able to just call you to Canada. Although, if you have a creative profession, you can then apply under self-employment program.
