Large-scale selections, new immigration program and other news of the week
From August 30 to September 5, Canada invited more than 2,000 candidates to immigrate and was delighted with other positive news.
Immigration selections
Canada was once again delighted with a large number of draws for the week. More than 2,000 invitations were issued in the first week of September. British Columbia selected 488 candidates in streams for skilled professionals, lower and middle-skilled workers, and graduates of the province's universities.
635 provincial program participants were invited in a new drawing through Express Entry. Despite the large number of candidates selected, the passing score was quite high.
Manitoba called for more people than usual: 602 people. Selection was among qualified people in Manitoba, qualified people from abroad and graduates from provincial universities.
Quebec has shared the results of its immigration selection the week before last. The province selected 585 applicants. This is a very large-scale draw for Quebec, with the province having held three of them during August, something that has never happened before.
Alberta also stood out. During the last week of August she held two selections, inviting 450 candidates in the first and 400 in the second.
Immigration programs and job fairs
New Brunswick is getting serious about finding new immigrants. The province is inviting hospitality workers and their families to a job fair, which will take place in an online format. At such events, New Brunswick representatives talk about ways to immigrate to the province, and participants leave their resumes for local employers who can then contact them.
But that's not all. New Brunswick has announced the launch of a new pilot immigration program. Its special feature is that the candidate does not need a provincial job offer. The main condition is graduation from one of the local colleges.
Jobs in Canada
Quebec is changing the conditions for issuing open work permits for those who come on a work visa and apply for permanent residence in the province. It is now possible to obtain a permit with the right to work for any company much earlier.
While many are hesitant to try to find a job in Canada, Canadian companies can't find employees. An auditing company surveyed employers and found that nearly 70% of them have difficulty hiring professionals. And more than half are willing to consider candidates from overseas.
Elections
Early parliamentary elections are approaching — they will be held on 20 September. The participating parties have already published their election campaigns and promises. They have all touched on immigration, so election statements suggest how immigration will change in Canada if there is a change of government.
