The flow of key workers in Canada has reached the intake ceiling

Immigration Canada no longer accepts applications from basic English-speaking workers, but it is possible to obtain a permanent residence permit.

The new immigration flow to Canada for English-speaking workers in non-health care positions has reached a limit of 30,000.

The quota was met on July 16, approximately 2.5 months after launching the program. As a reminder, this government programme is designed to provide permanent residency permits to foreign graduates of Canadian educational institutions and essential workers (this includes health care workers and those engaged in other essential labour activities in Canada) who were living in Canada at the time of the pandemic.

This is the second quota that has been met under this program, the first quota was filled within 25 hours of opening by foreign graduates of Canadian institutions.

But for medical English-speaking workers is still a very big chance to get a permanent residence permit under this program: as of July 16 out of 20 thousand places were filled only 2600.

We remind you that streams for francophone workers and students have an unlimited number of places. At the moment, the most popular stream is for French-speaking key workers in non-health care positions. Likewise, medical professionals who speak French well can still apply for permanent residency in Canada. The same rule applies to French-speaking graduates of Canadian universities.
