Canada has slowed down: few candidates invited to Express Entry

After a series of record-breaking selections in May and June, the new draw seems very modest.

On July 8, Canada sent 4,500 invitations to candidates registered with Express Entry and participating in the immigration program for specialists with experience in Canada.

For the past selection, the minimum passing score on the Comprehensive Ranking System was 369. This was 12 points higher than in the previous selection among professionals in this category, which took place on June 24. The draw among professionals with Canadian experience took place the day after the Express Entry selection for provincial immigration program participants.

Under a new immigration plan for 2021-2023, Canada aims to admit about 110,000 immigrants annually through Express Entry. For 2021, more than 93,000 invitations have already been issued.

Recent selections show that Canada continues to give priority to immigration applicants who are already in the country or who are nominated by the provinces, while travel restrictions continue to apply.

To maximize your chances of receiving an invitation to apply for Express Entry selection, we recommend keeping an eye on history of passing scores and number of invitations.
