Ontario waits for immigrant entrepreneurs

Now it's even easier for business owners to open a business in Canada's hospitable mainland province.

In early July, amendments to the Ontario Immigration Program (OINP) appeared to make it easier for entrepreneurs to move to the province and start successfully growing their own businesses in their new location.

Purpose of the amendments

These changes should speed up the arrival of applicants on the Entrepreneur Stream program in Ontario: business people will now be able to start a business in the province faster by establishing a permanent virtual interview process. In addition, the changes will help potential candidates to come to Ontario reduce the frequency of application monitoring and work even more efficiently to establish and grow their own businesses.

Updating the submission guidelines

The Ontario Immigrant Entrepreneur Program application guide has also been updated. Prospective applicants now have the most comprehensive information they need to provide in order to declare their interest in the program.

The updated interview and application monitoring requirements, as well as all changes to the application guidelines, apply to new applicants who plan to apply for Entrepreneur Stream after July 1, 2021.
