Express Entry invited a record number of candidates with provincial nominations

The number of invitees is increasing and the pass rate continues to decrease.

On June 9, Canada sent 940 invitations to candidates registered in Express Entry. Luck favoured participants in provincial programs. In this category of candidates, the past selection was record-breaking in terms of the number of invitations.

The minimum passing score on the Comprehensive Ranking System was 711, which is 2 points lower than it was in the previous selection. The scoring requirement may seem high, but that's because all the invited entrants had previously received provincial nominations. Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination are automatically awarded 600 points on top of their original score for age, education, language skills and other factors.

Express Entry is Canada's system for selecting qualified immigrants through three federal economic class programs:

This year, Canada issued 75,713 invitations to apply. This is double the number of invitations issued by the IRCC at the same time last year. Because of the small number of new immigrants admitted in 2020, Canada has set an ambitious goal of admitting 401,000 newcomers in 2021.

To maximize your chances of receiving an invitation to apply for Express Entry selection, we recommend keeping an eye on history of passing scores and number of invitations.
