Express Entry: Canada held its second consecutive selection

Canada continues to meet its 2021 immigration targets.

On March 18, Canada sent 5,000 invitations to Express Entry registered candidates who participated in the immigration program for specialists with experience in Canada (Canadian Experience Class).

The drawing took place the day after the selection among provincial program candidates. There is a possibility that Canada will continue to conduct selections in a similar pattern.

For the past selection, the minimum passing score on the Comprehensive Ranking System was 449. This is 374 points lower than in the previous selection among professionals with Canadian experience, which took place one month ago on February 13, 2021.

This new drawing, held immediately after the round for provincial program applicants, shows that Canada continues to prioritize immigration applicants while travel restrictions continue to apply.

Under a new immigration plan for 2021-2023, Canada aims to welcome about 110,000 immigrants annually through Express Entry. The country approached that mark last year, inviting a record number of newcomers for Express Entry and issuing a total of 107,350 permanent residence invitations. The Government of Canada continues to emphasize that attracting skilled immigrants during and after the COVID-19 pandemic will remain vital to support a strong Canadian economy.
