Immigration to Prince Edward Island for critical workers

Foreign workers currently employed in the province can apply for permanent residency through the Critical Workers stream.

The Critical Workers stream of Prince Edward Island's provincial program is designed for foreigners currently working in the province in low-skilled occupations.

Requirements

To be eligible to apply through the Critical Workers stream, you must meet the following requirements:

  • be between 18 and 59 years old;
  • have at least a high school education;
  • have a job offer in the province for an occupation in TEER category 4 or 5 according to the NOC classification (low-skilled and unskilled occupations);
  • have worked for 6 months for the same employer who provided the job offer;
  • have a valid work permit in Canada;
  • have 2 years of work experience in the occupation within the last 5 years or relevant education;
  • demonstrate English or French language proficiency at CLB level 4 (basic level);
  • show the ability to support yourself and your family members in Prince Edward Island;
  • demonstrate the intention to live in the province.

The province has an additional requirement for long-haul truck drivers: work experience in Prince Edward Island must be at least 12 months.

Candidate Assessment

Prince Edward Island uses a provincial Expression of Interest system to evaluate immigration candidates. The more points you score, the higher your chance of receiving an invitation. The maximum score is 100. Points are awarded as follows:
