Morden’s Community Driven Immigration Initiative is a support program for those who want to immigrate to Manitoba through the provincial program and settle in the city of Morden.

Morden is a small city 112 km away from the capital of Manitoba, the city of Winnipeg, with a population of about 10,000 residents. The local unemployment rate is only 3%. Every year, Morden selects about 50 families to help them immigrate. This is about 5% of applications.

Eligibility

To immigrate through Morden’s Initiative, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • be between the ages of 21 and 45;
  • have no connections with other cities and provinces in Canada;
  • complete an educational program of at least 1 year;
  • have at least 2 years of work experience within the past 5 years;
  • demonstrate proficiency in English or French at level 7 of the CLB scale (higher than average);
  • be registered in the Express Entry system and meet the requirements of one of the federal immigration programs;
  • have enough funds in your accounts to support yourself and your family members after you move to Morden.

Simplified requirements

Some applicants do not need to have an Express Entry profile and CLB 5 language proficiency is sufficient for them. These candidates include the following professions:

Mechanical assemblers are also exempt from the requirement to have an Express Entry profile, but the required language level is not reduced for them.

All listed professions are a priority for Morden, and such candidates are considered first.

How to apply

To apply for immigration to the city of Morden, you need to fill out the form, collect the documents listed in it, and send them by email, which is also indicated in the form.

Applicants approved by Morden's representatives will be required to make an exploratory visit to the city to have an interview with an immigration officer, make local contacts, and find a job. If after the interview the immigration officer decides that you are eligible, you will be able to apply for permanent residency under Manitoba’s provincial program.
