A new Express Entry selection - this time for healthcare professionals
The passing scores are nothing short of exhilarating.
October 26 marked the third drawing in the Express Entry system this week. Previously, selections were made for candidates with provincial nominations and francophones, and now invitations — as many as 3,600 — were sent to health professionals.
This is the third time such targeted selection has been held — the previous one took place July 6, and the debut one — June 28. Then the passing score was 463 and 476 respectively. And in the current draw, successful applicants needed only 431 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System. Points are awarded for age, education, language skills, work experience and so on.
The Express Entry system is designed to evaluate and select applicants for immigration under three federal programs:
Healthcare is one of the priority categories for which targeted selections are now being made. To receive an invitation, candidates must have 6 months of work experience in the last 3 years in one of the suitable health professions.
Targeted selections are also made in the following categories:
- candidates with a good knowledge of French;
- careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM);
- trades professions;
- transport professions;
- professions in agriculture and the agri-food sector.
