Our client shared details about his preparation for enrolling in a Canadian university.
Learning English is an important step before applying to a Canadian university. We recommend studying the language online at ILAC, a Canadian language school.
The school offers a special University Pathway program to prepare students for higher education. This program not only teaches language skills but also prepares students for university life in Canada. Moreover, the Pathway program certificate allows admission to dozens of universities across the country without taking a language test.
Our student Sergey completed the Pathway program and shared his experience:
"I studied online at ILAC Kiss in the Pathway program, which is designed for those planning to enter a Canadian college or university. First, you take a placement test to determine your level and group. I was at B1 level and joined Pathway 2 (PW2).
The program consists of two-week modules with various assignments: essays, presentations, vocabulary tests, and speaking exercises. Every other week, there's an IELTS writing, reading, listening, and progress evaluation. The minimum study period for PW2 is 4 weeks, so even if you pass the test in the first two weeks, you still need to complete the full 4-week course.
If you pass at least one test and complete the coursework, you move on to PW3. PW3 is similar, but it lasts 8 weeks and requires higher scores and better coursework to achieve the corresponding level. You need to pass at least one of the four tests at your required level and complete the last two coursework assignments.
To get the PW3.2/PW3.3 certificate, which most educational institutions require, you need to study for at least 8 weeks if starting from PW3, or 12 weeks if starting from PW2.
Overall, the program isn't too difficult. It's more about practicing tests and preparing for study in Canada than just learning the language, which happens naturally during the process. However, it requires a significant time commitment: 3 hours of classes every day (except weekends), plus time for writing essays, preparing presentations, studying for tests, and so on.
It's also important to avoid cheating, like using AI for writing tests, because you will be caught, and it won't help your reputation."
