The Canadian province expands the list of occupations for immigration

On July 1, the Canadian province of Ontario expanded its list of eligible occupations for the In-Demand Skills stream immigration program.
The main requirement for this stream is a job offer from an Ontario employer in one of the eligible occupations. The list of eligible occupations varies depending on the employer's location.
For those who have found work anywhere in Ontario, only one new occupation has been added: helpers and laborers.
A substantial list of new occupations is now eligible for those who have found work outside the Greater Toronto Area (Toronto and its suburbs):
- shippers and receivers;
- production logistics workers;
- dry cleaning, laundry and related occupations;
- railway yard and track maintenance workers;
- automotive and truck parts and equipment installers and servicers;
- public works maintenance equipment operators;
- public works and maintenance laborers;
- material handlers;
- other trades helpers and laborers;
- railway and motor transport laborers;
- public works and maintenance laborers;
- aquaculture and marine harvest laborers;
- foundry workers;
- glass forming and finishing machine operators and glass cutters;
- concrete, clay and stone forming operators;
- inspectors and testers, mineral and metal processing;
- rubber processing machine operators and related workers;
- sawmill machine operators;
- pulp mill, papermaking and coating control operators;
- lumber graders and other wood processing inspectors and graders;
- fish and seafood plant workers;
- testers and graders, food and beverage processing;
- motor vehicle assemblers, inspectors and testers;
- electronics assemblers, fabricators, inspectors and testers;
- industrial motor and process control equipment assemblers and inspectors;
- assemblers and inspectors, electrical appliance, apparatus and equipment manufacturing;
- furniture and fixture assemblers and inspectors;
- plastic products assemblers, finishers and inspectors;
- mineral and metal processing laborers;
- metal fabrication laborers;
- wood, pulp and paper processing laborers;
- rubber and plastic products manufacturing laborers;
- food and beverage processing laborers;
- fish and seafood processing laborers.
The expansion of the eligible occupations list is great news for those planning to immigrate to Ontario, especially for those already in the province on a work visa. Your occupation might be on this list.
