University Canada West: Benefits for students with STEM backgrounds

STEM professionals can now enroll in MBA programs without taking prerequisite courses.

University Canada West takes a serious approach to recruiting students for this program. Applicants must possess a specific set of skills and knowledge that will allow them to successfully complete two years of graduate study and graduate with the coveted Master of Business Administration degree.

Taking into account the fact that many people aspire to enter the MBA program without having a special education or work experience in business and management, the academic staff of the university specially developed a preparatory MBA Foundation course. This course was intended for candidates whose previous education and professional experience did not touch upon business administration.

However, at the end of May, University Canada West was quick to share some good news for those whose first major falls within the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) spectrum. Professionals with a background in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics can now enroll in an MBA course without having to take a preparation course!

The new rule has been in effect since the end of May and also applies to those candidates who have previously applied to the MBA program at University Canada West but did not take the preliminary MBA Foundation course.

The rules regarding the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) remain as is — it must be at least 3 out of 4.33.

UCW also continues to offer scholarship programs. Our students who have started this program have already received $9,720 CAD in scholarships.
