It will be easier for immigrants in Toronto to find work
The Government of Canada continues to invest in companies that help immigrants before they come to the country.
Canada recognizes that helping immigrants before they arrive in the country is the key factor that allows them to settle in successfully. That is why the government has recently been actively funding companies and institutions that assist future immigrants. We've written about investments in Nova Scotia and Collège La Cité and Colleges and Institutes Canada. Another investment was announced this week, and again in Ontario.
Minister of Public Safety Marco Mendicino announced on behalf of Immigration Minister Sean Fraser an investment of over CAD 2 million in JVS Toronto. The funds are to be used to provide important services to immigrants before they arrive in Canada. JVS Toronto is a large company that has been helping with job searches in Canada's largest city for 75 years. For immigrants planning to move to Canada, JVS Toronto offers online services that include job information, help with soft skills, job counseling and other assistance in preparing for work in Canada.
Mendicino personally visited the JVS Toronto office prior to the investment announcement.
"Pre-arrival services provide permanent residents with the resources to make informed decisions about their new life in Canada. This new funding will deliver consistent, highquality, client-centred services to people around the world. With our investment, this organization can continue supporting the needs of newcomers by offering helpful online and in-person services," said Marco Mendicino.
Canada believes it is important to help immigrants before they arrive. This will allow them to settle into their new country more quickly, so that newcomers can reach their full potential, including in the workplace, helping to strengthen the country's economy and build a brighter future.
