News from the Immigration Lawyers Conference
Minister of Immigration spoke out again about the CUAET program.
Alex Pavlenko, founder of Immigrant.Today, attended a conference for immigration lawyers in the Canadian capital.
Among the speakers who have long been involved in immigration issues and have been helping people from all continents to start new lives in Canada was also Minister of Immigration Sean Fraser.
Among the issues Minister Fraser touched on was helping Afghans and other immigrants, but he was particularly keen to help Ukrainians coming to Canada through CUAET, the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel measures.
"Near the time that we made the announcement of special humanitarian visa we described as CUAET, we think along the way we'll be working to create a residence pathway based on reuniting families. Of course, that's not the only way for Ukrainians to get to Canada, there are other ways," he said in his speech.
He also assured that he communicates extensively with Ukraine representatives and understands that there is a concern about the future of the Ukrainian state. There is concern that countries around the world who provide help to the Ukrainians don’t rob the talent they need to build the next generation of Ukraine
The minister answered questions from guests invited and other conference participants and talked about the provinces' plans for immigration.
"I am hearing from a lot of my provincial counterparts that there is going to be an effort use the increase in the provincial allocations in the provincial nominee programs to welcome Ukrainians as permanent residents. Of course u can apply through the existing federal economic stream," the head of the ministry summed up his speech.
