10 reasons to move to Canada in 2023
I will name a few reasons that will make you think about immigration.
Not long ago, Canada ranked first among the best countries in the world and first in terms of quality of life. What's good here, and why should you move to Canada?
I have been living in Canada since 2016, so I have a lot to say and a lot to compare because before that I lived in Ukraine and Poland. I will not drag it out and get straight to the point.
Long and happy life
The first reason to move to Canada is that you will live longer. At least that's what the statistics say. I think all of us would like to live longer, raise our children, see our grandchildren, or even have great-grandchildren. There are so many beautiful places in the world that you want to see. And free time for many people appears after retirement because in youth everyone is chasing after earnings and trying to provide a good life for themselves. And it turns out that this good life comes closer to old age, although it's good if someone manages to achieve it earlier. This, by the way, is not just some philosophical digression, in Canada people over 55 years old are the happiest population according to studies.
Canada is one of a dozen countries in the world in terms of life expectancy. On average people here live 82 years and I think this is a good result. Life expectancy is influenced by many factors, such as a healthy lifestyle, medicine, quality of food and products, environment, comfortable conditions, and many others. Canada is doing well with this.
The second reason to move to Canada is the level of happiness of the population. Canada ranked 14th in the world in 2022 on this measure. The country used to be in the top 10, but the pandemic has messed up the picture.
Medicine
The third reason why you should immigrate to Canada. Medicine plays an important role in life expectancy, and it is free in Canada. Government insurance plan covers most services, except for dentists and opticians. But of course, there are many details. For example, there are extended plans by employers that have more coverage and include dentists. In addition, insurance conditions may vary from province to province. There are also special insurance plans for students and retirees.
I will just say that the medical system here may be different from what you are used to in your home country. For example, if you call an ambulance because you have a temperature of 38, you have to pay several hundred dollars.
If you just caught a cold, you can wait a few hours for a free doctor's appointment, who will just prescribe you antipyretics. Scheduled surgeries are scheduled several months in advance. However, it is worth noting that if a person has something serious, they will not procrastinate and will help quickly.

Another reason people want to move to Canada is because of the excellent education. Canada is 3rd in the world in the number of international students. I think that says a lot. Canadian universities are in the top 100 for a reason, and degrees are recognized around the world.
Why is a Canadian education so attractive? First of all, the cost of education. Of course, foreigners may find the prices high, but they are still lower than in the United States or the United Kingdom. And secondly, foreigners are attracted by the quality of education. According to the University of Toronto, 75% of graduates are employed in their occupation within 3 months. In addition, after graduation, you will get a work permit. Studying and working in Canada greatly increases your chances of permanent residency. And if you get a permanent residency first and then go to study, the cost for you will already be much lower than for foreigners.
I would also like to say that after immigration many people go to study again. I went through the same thing, and I am once again studying at a university for the sake of gaining more knowledge. In Canada, there is nothing wrong with sitting behind a desk at your 30 or even 50. Everyone is fine with it. And also studying for 1-2 years is also considered higher education, so you don't have to study for 4-5 years.

Tolerance
Another important reason for moving to Canada is tolerance. No matter what anyone says, I think people should be more tolerant and not be harassed because of gender, orientation, skin colour, or accent. In Canada, people treat each other very respectfully. And children are taught from an early age how to behave in a civilized society.
A separate advantage of Canada is that it is a land of immigrants. A very high percentage of the population here are immigrants or their descendants. So you won't feel like a stranger. In general, everyone is equal in Canada, and you do not have to worry about being treated badly. People here are quite helpful and kind. All my friends who have moved here speak well of Canadians.
Earnings
Moving on to the next reason to move to Canada. It's the opportunity to make a good living. In Canada, the shortage of workers, in my opinion, is already constant. There are always hundreds of thousands of jobs open, sometimes even up to a million. The easiest job pays $15 CAD an hour. Personal experience, my middle son, who was 14, got a job at a cafe in Ottawa and got exactly that much. And if you're some kind of specialist, you will earn more.
By the way, about simple jobs. Any kind of work is valued here, so you will not be treated badly if you are a loader or a waiter and so on. On the contrary, many new immigrants go through this. Again, I interviewed a lot of guys who got jobs like that and then bought cars and apartments and quickly rose through the ranks. In general, not only IT specialists can live well.
I advise you to read our article about what occupations in Canada are the most in demand and the best paid. Perhaps you will find your specialty there.
Canadian passport
Moving on. The Canadian passport consistently ranks among the top strongest in the world. A huge number of countries are available to Canadian citizens for travel. In 2022 it's 185, take your pick. The main plus is that you don't have to live in the country for 10 years to get citizenship. You first have to get a permanent residency through one of over 100 programs, and after 3 years you can apply for citizenship.
Security
The next reason is that Canada is safe. The locals are used to a measured way of life, and they do not need any unnecessary fuss. The police are not paid for in vain either. Canada is 7th safest country in the world. You may have already noticed that Canada is at the top of so many rankings in general.
Ecology
Perhaps another great reason to move to Canada, especially with my family, is the environment. I would like to add to this point the beautiful nature. I have mentioned many times that Canada has many parks, forests, rivers, mountains, lakes, and nature reserves. We celebrate my wife Ivanna's birthday every year at Niagara Falls.
Affordable mortgage
The last reason I will give is affordable loans and mortgages. The fact is that interest rates in Canada are much lower than in many countries. Right now the key rate is 4.25%.
In Canada, many people live on credit. I don't know whether it's good or bad, but the advantage is that because of the low rates, you won't overpay much. When I lived in Ukraine, I saved up money so I wouldn't have to pay too much on credit. And in Canada I buy phones on interest-free installments, lease a car, and live in a huge three-story house, paying less than 3% of annual interest on the mortgage.
I think I'll call it a day, although there are many more reasons.
