The reasons why it's beneficial and prestigious to have a Canadian passport

The reasons why it

The British organization Henley & Partners compiles a ranking of the world's strongest passports every year. Canada's passport is among them.

199 passports of the world are rated by the number of free-visa destinations. For the 5th year in a row, Japan tops the list. Citizens of this country can easily travel without visas to 193 countries. Citizens of South Korea and Singapore have free-visa visits to 192 destinations.

It is easy for residents of Germany and Spain to move around the world to 190 countries. They are in third place. The next position is taken by Luxembourg, Italy and Finland — 187 destinations. Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands and Austria — 188 countries accept citizens without visas — close to the top five of the strongest passports in the world.

Canada is in 8th place. You can travel to 185 countries with a Canadian passport.

But in 2023, there will be a fee for Canadian citizens to visit Europe — you have to pay a fee of €7. But only once. This decision was made by the European Union for tourism security.

In addition, it will be necessary to register in the European Tourist Information Authorization System. It will be fully operational by November 2023.

The ETIAS permit is for adult Canadian citizens. There is no fee for children under the age of 18. When submitting documents, you must provide personal passport information and the name of the country, report bans, deportations and criminal records. According to the information on the website, the procedure is completed in a few minutes.

It is possible to enter Schengen countries with a Canadian passport without a visa and stay no longer than 90 days. Citizens can easily travel between countries in the Schengen area, but their cumulative stay must not be longer than 3 months.

But getting to Europe will be cheaper. PLAY promises the first flights to Europe on a $169 CAD low-cost carrier C on June 22, 2023.

The flights will operate from Hamilton Airport in Ontario and will take passengers to 26 European destinations, including London, Dublin, Berlin, Paris, Brussels and Stockholm.
