It becomes easier to get the canadian citizenship through military service
Even immigrants, regardless of experience, can join the Canadian Army.
The Canadian government is expanding the range of applicants to the armed forces. Previously, foreign nationals could only apply for service if they had military training and relevant qualifications in foreign armed forces.
Canada's Department of National Defence has said it is ready to help immigrants with permanent residency obtain citizenship. Immigration authorities will prioritize citizenship applications from members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and they will be processed on a priority basis.
The Armed Forces are currently on the lookout for pilots, logistics officers, infantry officers and other skilled professionals with experience who can be enrolled in the CAF if they have permanent resident status in Canada under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
But authorities are expanding the list and are willing to consider immigrants who can be registered with the Canadian armed forces as recruits or cadets.
The Armed Forces are trying, by all means, to increase the number of recruits and reach the number of 5,900 by March 2023. In the current situation, the army is short of 8,000 soldiers, sailors, and airmen.
Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, stressed: "To grow and meet the challenges of tomorrow, the Canadian Armed Forces needs to recruit, train and retain diverse talent in Canada. Residents will bring a great deal of enthusiasm, experience and knowledge. We have noticed great interest and desire to join the Canadian Armed Forces to serve their new country."
The Department of National Defence continues to apply measures to create an institution where everyone feels safe, secure and respected. Changing the culture within the armed forces promotes the recruitment and retention of existing members. The Armed Forces also seek greater diversity within its ranks and have even relaxed dress codes.
What is important to know about the Canadian Army?
First of all, being in the military in Canada is very prestigious. Those who serve in the military receive many benefits from the government and are respected by the citizens. To join the Armed Forces, you must be over the age of 16 and have at least a 10th-grade education. For officers, a bachelor's degree requires.
But getting into the Armed Forces will not be that easy. All applicants undergo a medical examination, an aptitude test and a credibility check. If approved, you will be invited to an interview with a military advisor.
After you pass all the points, you are enrolled in basic training for 10 months, which you will have to spend in the field. During training, future servicemen learn the technical, and analytical basics of military affairs, are tested on endurance and undergo a lot of physical training.
Benefits and earnings
The military receives the following benefits from the state:
- medical and dental insurance for the whole family for the duration of the service;
- 20 days of paid vacation;
- Maternity and parental leave with 93% of your salary;
- the right to preferential rented housing.
You can expect a minimum of $35,000 CAD per year with basic training after you complete the training. Experience, knowledge and skills increase the salary. The average Canadian military pay is $40,000 CAD to $65,000 CAD. Officers can expect $80,000 CAD. After 25 years of service, it is possible to retire.
