People are leaving Toronto en masse and have no regrets
What is this about and where do they decide to settle?
The efforts of Alberta to lure professionals and immigrants from other major regions are paying off. The province has already run two phases of an advertising campaign named "Alberta is calling".
The event is clearly a success: more and more Canadians are considering Alberta for work and life. The region has more than 100,000 open jobs, with wages relatively high and a lower cost of living than provinces like Ontario or British Columbia.
Many Torontonians are seriously considering moving to Calgary, but before doing so, they seek advice from Reddit users who have already had such an experience.
Although Calgary is much different from Toronto, many people who have moved to Calgary say they do not regret their decision at all. Users noted Calgary's affordability, dry and sometimes warm winter weather, plenty of recreational opportunities, and the friendliness of the locals.
However, some don't like that Calgary has few trees and no lakes within walking distance.
This year, Ontarians are especially prone to leave their province. In the second quarter of 2022, the region had the largest outflow of the population in all of Canada. And the most enormous influx, not surprisingly, was to Alberta.
