Quebec takes care of temporary foreign workers

Employers are obliged to provide them with housing and medical treatment.

On May 24, 2022, Quebec added 58 new NOC C-level occupations to the list of those for which the labor market impact assessment (LMIA) is simplified. These are mostly working occupations.

Employers are required to pay such employees:

  • the passage back to their country;
  • a private health insurance policy that covers services covered under the basic public health insurance program.

Employers are also required to provide affordable and adequate housing. But these requirements apply only to employers who pay less than the minimum hourly wage in Quebec.
