New airline tries to conquer the Canadian market by cutting prices on record

Reservations are available now, the first flights will be in April.

Enerjet was created in 2006 so that residents of the provinces Alberta and British Columbia, not covered by the two major Canadian carriers, could fly charter flights to Cuba, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. The company was renamed Lynx Air in 2021.

Lynx Air intends to buy 46 Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes and fly domestic routes, and then gradually transfer to international flights. So far, seven destinations have been announced — seven cities in four provinces:

  • Calgary, Alberta;

  • Kelowna, British Columbia;

  • Vancouver, British Columbia;

  • Victoria, British Columbia;

  • Winnipeg, Manitoba;

  • Toronto, Ontario.

Because of the distances and climate, Canadians often travel between cities by air, although rail service is also quite developed. After multiple flight cancellations during the pandemic Canadians are very disappointed in popular airlines WestJet and Air Canada, and the new carrier traditionally is attracting customers with low prices:

  • $39 CAD flight from Victoria or Vancouver to Calgary and from Kelowna to Vancouver will cost;

  • $49 CAD to fly from Calgary to Victoria or Toronto.
