Another record-breaking selection by Alberta

The province began holding selections every week and inviting a record number of candidates.

On September 7, Alberta's immigration program sent 500 invitations to apply for a nomination from the province. The drawing took place among applicants who participated in the immigration stream with selection through Express Entry. This is the fourth consecutive selection to break the record for invitations in the last 3 years.

The minimum score on the complex ranking system was 300. This is 1 point lower than in the previous selection, which took place on August 30.

To receive an invitation in the drawing, applicants needed to have a profile in the Express Entry system, which Canada uses to process applications for permanent residency under the three federal immigration programs:

Candidates who receive a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 points. This virtually guarantees an invitation to the subsequent Express Entry draw.
