Canada is close to opening its border with the U.S.
Long-awaited news for residents of both countries.
The Canadian Prime Minister gave hope that "good news" about the opening of the border with the U.S. would soon emerge. At a press conference on 22 June, Justin Trudeau said that the count was no longer in months, but in weeks.
However, the prime minister added that the resumption of non-essential travel will depend on, among other things, the success of vaccination of the population and the situation with the new COVID-19 variants. Currently, the Canada-US border is closed until at least July 21.
The federal government recently announced some reliefs for vaccinated travellers who fly into Canada from overseas. They will be able to avoid a quarantined hotel and 2-week self-isolation. Justin Trudeau stressed that this does not yet apply to Americans who cross the land border.
