Who is easiest to find a job in Quebec
The province has published a new list of in-demand occupations that qualify for the simplified labour market impact assessment (LMIA).
Every year, the Quebec Ministry of Immigration provides an updated list of occupations for which employers do not have to prove that no Canadian workers are available for the position and only a foreigner can fill it. This process is called labour market impact assessment (LMIA).
The new list that will be in effect this year was released yesterday, February 24.
Like last year, the new list of occupations eligible for simplified processing covers all of Quebec and is based on labour needs throughout the province.
The updated list includes many professions from last year's list, some were excluded and new ones were added. This year's list includes 181 occupations, 70 more than last year. The newly added occupations include telecom operators managers, computer and information systems managers, construction and home improvement managers, and geologists and oceanologists.
The announced change is effective immediately. There is a 30-day transition period for the employer or his or her representative to review an application submitted in accordance with the list for the previous year.
Quebec employers offering vacancies corresponding to one of the occupations or positions on this list must follow a simplified procedure.
