Immigration to Quebec through the Quebec Graduate stream

Quebec university graduates can obtain permanent residency in the province through the Quebec Graduate stream.

The Quebec Graduate (Diplômé du Québec) is a stream of the Quebec immigration program for people who have graduated from a provincial university.

Eligibility

To immigrate to Quebec through this stream, a candidate must:

  • be 18 years of age or older;
  • graduate from a Quebec university and have work experience in Quebec, depending on the studies (see requirements below);
  • live in Quebec for at least half of the time while studying;
  • work in the province in a NOC level 0, A or B occupation;
  • demonstrate the French language ability at level 7 on the Quebec scale of competency levels (upper-intermediate);
  • show financial self-sufficiency (see below);
  • obtain an attestation of learning about democratic values and the Quebec values expressed by the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms.

Also, spouses or de facto spouses of the principal applicants must demonstrate basic knowledge of French by providing the results of the language test.

Education and work experience

The following types of Quebec educational credentials are accepted in the Quebec Graduate stream:

  • bachelor's degree;
  • master's degree;
  • PhD;
  • diploma of college studies, technical training (DCS);
  • diploma of vocational studies (DVS) attesting to 1,800 hours or more of study;
  • diploma of vocational studies (DVS) followed by an Attestation of vocational specialization (AVS) of 1,800 hours or more of continuing education leading to a given trade.

Candidates with DVS diplomas must have at least 18 months of work experience in Quebec in a NOC 0, A, B or C occupation. Those with the other types of credentials must have at least 12 months of work experience in Quebec in a NOC 0, A or B occupation.

Settlement funds

The candidate must prove that they have enough money to support themselves and their family in Quebec. The amount depends on the number of family members (in Canadian dollars):

For each additional child, $1,571 CAD must be added.

How to apply

The candidate who meets the program requirements must complete a form in French and create an account on the provincial immigration portal Arrima.
