Immigration to Nova Scotia for graduate entrepreneurs

Nova Scotia graduates who wish to do business in the province can immigrate through the International Graduate Entrepreneur stream.

The International Graduate Entrepreneur stream of Nova Scotia's provincial program allows recent graduates of provincial universities to obtain a permanent residency. The main requirement is to establish or purchase a business in Nova Scotia and manage it for a year.

Eligibility

To be eligible to immigrate through the International Graduate Entrepreneur stream, you must meet the following requirements:

  • be at least 21 years old;
  • complete a minimum 2-year degree program at any provincial university or at Nova Scotia Community College;
  • have 1-year experience managing and owning a business in Nova Scotia with at least a 33.33% stake in the business;
  • demonstrate proficiency in English or French at level 7 on the CLB scale (above average).

How to apply

If you are interested in immigration through the International Graduate Entrepreneur stream, you can create an account with the province's "Expression of Interest" system. The province evaluates candidates on criteria such as language level, education, business management experience, age, adaptability, and so on. Successful candidates will also have to undergo some checks and an interview with provincial representatives before they can apply for permanent residency.
