Immigration to New Brunswick through the Skilled Worker stream
People who have received a job offer in New Brunswick can immigrate through the Skilled Worker stream.
The Skilled Worker stream of New Brunswick’s provincial program is intended for people who have received a job offer from one of the province's employers.
Eligibility
To be able to immigrate through the Skilled Worker stream, you need to meet the following requirements:
- be between the ages of 19 and 55;
- receive a job offer in New Brunswick;
- have at least a high school education;
- have at least 1 year of work experience within the past 5 years (not required for those who have completed a 1-year or longer academic program at a New Brunswick institution);
- demonstrate proficiency in English or French at level 4 on the CLB scale (basic level);
- score a minimum of 60 points out of 100 on the evaluation system (see below).
New Brunswick considers two categories of immigration applicants: those already in the province and those overseas or in another region of Canada. Each category must meet additional requirements:
- in-province candidates must prove their residency in New Brunswick for at least 6 months;
- out-of-province and overseas candidates candidates are accepted with the following restrictions:
- their job offer must fall under the TEER 5 category of the NOC National Occupational Classification of Canada (unskilled occupations);
- food counter attendants, kitchen helpers and related support occupations are excluded from participation in the Skilled Worker stream.
Evaluation system
All candidates need to score 60 points out of 100. Points are awarded as follows:
