New Year's immigration screening in Alberta

The province has invited health care workers to attend.

The Province of Alberta has reported a little belatedly on the results of the immigration draw held back on January 2. A New Year's gift in the form of an invitation to permanent residence was given to 42 people who scored 309 points or more in the Comprehensive Ranking System.

This selection was made among candidates from the health care industry with a job offer in the province. A number of requirements had to be met in order to participate:

Separate drawings for healthcare workers in Alberta are held regularly, most recently on Dec. 5, when the pass rate was slightly lower. Points are awarded for age, education, work experience, language skills and other factors.
