Calgary has been ranked among the world

The Alberta government is celebrating a successful outcome.

The Canadian city of Calgary has been ranked highly in three recognized global rankings. The StartupBlink, Startup Genome and Pitchbook lists recognized it as one of the fastest growing technology ecosystems in the world.

Specifically, Calgary and the province of Alberta are experiencing a boom in business and technology development in general. Since the beginning of the year, investment in the province's technology sector totaled CA$ 534 million, up 5% from the same period last year.

So far, Alberta has received 12.3% of venture capital deals in Canada — compare that to 2% in 2018. Total technology investment in Alberta by the end of 2023 was CA$ 1.2 billion.

Technology and Innovation Minister Nate Glubish congratulated the people of Alberta on these impressive results:

"Alberta’s tech sector is booming. Technology is not just an industry, it is the future of all industries and as a rising tide lifts all boats. A strong tech sector means a strong economy."

Another Deloitte ranking included several Calgary companies in its list of the 50 fastest growing companies. Including the very-most — ranking leader Neo Financial. And Amazon Web Services recently announced the completion of its infrastructure region in Western Canada, marking the largest investment in the technology sector in Alberta history.
