The invitations for the parent and grandparent sponsorship program have started to be sent out

You can expect a letter from the Department of Immigration within two weeks.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada today began sending out invitations for the Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Program. Anyone who applied in 2020 should check their email.

Invitations will be sent from today for two weeks. The Ministry will send a total of 24,200 invitations to potential sponsors with the aim of receiving up to 15,000 full applications.

The Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship Program allows Canadian residents and citizens to invite family members and relatives to live in Canada permanently. Under its terms, the applicant agrees to support their older relative for 20 years, and the invitee cannot claim government benefits.

The program is in demand among Canadians. So many applications were sent out in 2020 that invitations are still being sent out. No new applications have been accepted since then until now.
