Canada closes temporary visa centers

Important information for Ukrainians planning to move.

The Canadian Department of Citizenship and Immigration has announced the closure of temporary visa centers in Europe. The emergency relocation program from Ukraine to Canada was launched on March 17, 2022 after the start of Russia's full-scale military invasion. In this way, the Canadian authorities gave Ukrainians and their immediate family members the opportunity to come to the country as temporary residents for up to three years.

Under CUAET, temporary visa centers opened in Bratislava (Slovakia), Budapest (Hungary), Prague (Czech Republic), Krakow and Warsaw (Poland). On July 15, 2023, applications for the program closed. Since then, the flow of visitors to the temporary visa centers has decreased and most of them will now also close.

Already on September 30, the centers in Bratislava, Budapest and Krakow will stop working. The Prague offices will close on October 19.

On the other hand, the Warsaw temporary visa center will be reclassified as a permanent one. The Vienna, Lviv and Kyiv centers will also continue to operate for the time being.

IRCC promises to make the closure of the centers smooth and comfortable for employees and visitors.
