5 reasons to learn English at ILAC
Courses with native speakers for $5 per lesson. Let's find out more!
Knowledge of English is one of the prerequisites for applying to many Canadian immigration programs, as well as for admission to Canadian universities. And even though there are ways to move to a country with poor English, it is best to "tighten up" it in advance to make it easier to adapt to the new place. And we know the best places to do it.
ILAC is a Canadian language school that is rightfully regarded as one of the best in the world. ILAC has received annual awards for excellence in English language learning and is accredited in Canada and internationally. ILAC has students from more than 75 countries around the world and is affiliated with many universities in Canada.
We can safely recommend ILAC. Both because we have been working with ILAC for several years, and because some of our staff have studied at ILAC, so we have seen for ourselves the quality of teaching. And since we are 100% confident in ILAC, we decided to tell you more about why you should choose this school to study English too. Especially if you decide to apply to a Canadian university.
Reason 1: level of teaching
As mentioned above, ILAC is considered one of the best in the world and every year it receives awards for its commitment to excellence in English language learning and teaching quality. For example, in 2021 ILAC was recognized as the best language school in Toronto. Obviously, the level here is very high.
This is largely due to the teaching staff. Every teacher at ILAC has experience teaching English to international students, is accredited by TESOL (Teachers of English as a Second Language) and holds a university degree.
Teaching methods, regardless of the program, include plenty of practice. For example, each topic covered in class is reinforced through pair or group discussions. Students prepare joint small projects and reports. Thanks to this, students better master the material, practice, and develop their communicative skills in a non-native language, overcoming the language barrier.
In their feedback, ILAC alumni and students say that the classes are fun and good-natured, the lessons do not seem boring, and the teachers do their best to motivate and inspire the students. At the same time, students note that the lessons are not just fun, but bring real results. The students are taught using materials developed by ILAC teachers.
When it comes to study programs, it cannot be said that there are many of them. However, there are as many as you need to satisfy every need. The following programs are available for adults (19 years and older):
- General English;
- Business English;
- preparation for Cambridge English FCE & CAE exams;
- preparation for IELTS and TOEFL language tests (IELTS Preparation);
- Preparation for admission to Canadian universities (University Pathway).

The same programs are available for teenagers (16 to 18 years old) except English for Business, and there are summer and winter programs where you can improve your English and have a good time. Each of the programs can be taken in two ways: Intensive English and Power English. In the first case, the student receives 30 lessons per week, in the second — 38. The duration of the programs is from 4 to 68 weeks, depending on the student's level of English.
There is also a one-year academic program (GAP Year Academic Program), where students spend one semester improving their English and the second semester studying at one of the partner colleges to get a real experience of student life in Canada.
In summary, experienced teachers, flexible study programs, a focus on practice and a great atmosphere make studying at ILAC one of the best choices for those who want to learn English.
Reason 2: study in Canada or online
Most of ILAC's training programs are full-time. That is, to attend these programs, students must travel to Toronto or Vancouver and attend classes at an ILAC school. If you are planning to apply to a Canadian university, studying at ILAC can be a great "rehearsal" for college life.
ILAC students, like international students in Canada, live either with a host family, in a residence, or in a small house shared by several students. Although you can rent a room or apartment on your own if you wish and can do so.
You will need to attend classes every day and meet and socialize with other students from around the world who have come to learn English. If the study program is for more than 6 months, the student must apply for a study permit.
It is also worth noting that ILAC schools are located in Toronto and Vancouver. These are the largest and most beautiful cities in Canada. Living in such a city is a unique experience: incredible views of the metropolis, active nightlife, large-scale and colorful events, the opportunity to find a pastime for every taste, and maybe even make useful acquaintances. We do not advise you to get too carried away with entertainment and nightlife, because you should not forget about your studies.
If you can't make it to Canada, you still have the option of learning English at ILAC.
The ILAC KISS online program allows you to take a General English course, a college prep course, or prepare for the TOEFL/IELTS and Cambridge exams. Online courses are taught at Zoom by the same instructors and programs as face-to-face courses but at a fraction of the cost. ILAC offers a unique chance to learn a language with qualified Canadian teachers from the comfort of your own home.
Reason 3: cost
For your convenience, we will provide a table of how much it costs to attend "adult" programs:
Number of weeks | Intensive English week (30 lessons per week) | Power English week (38 lessons per week) |
2-10 | CAD 400 (USD 302) | CAD 450 (USD 340) |
11-21 | CAD 385 (USD 291) | CAD 440 (USD 332) |
22-32 | CAD 365 (USD 276) | CAD 420 (USD 317) |
33-43 | CAD 355 (USD 268) | CAD 410 (USD 310) |
44 | CAD 345 (USD 261) | CAD 400 (USD 302) |
But these are all in-person training programs. But there is also an online ILAC KISS program. Let's see how much it costs:
Number of weeks | Cost of a Full-time week (20 lessons) |
2 | CAD 180 (USD 136) |
3-4 | CAD 160 (USD 121) |
5-7 | CAD 150 (USD 113) |
8-23 | CAD 140 (USD 106) |
24 | CAD 135 (USD 102) |
At first glance, it seems that the prices are not the most affordable. But let's calculate the cost of one lesson. For example, for a 12-week Intensive English program. The cost is CAD 385 for a week of 30 lessons. That is one lesson costs CAD 12.80 — less than USD 10. In Moscow, for example, the cost of one lesson of preparation for IELTS in terms of dollars on average starts from USD 16.
When it comes to studying online, one class of a 12-week ILAC KISS course costs CAD 7 (just over USD 5), and longer-term programs are even cheaper. Therefore, ILAC offers students a very affordable price for a high level of learning.
But that's not all. We are official partners of ILAC school, and if you register for courses through us, you will get 30% cheaper tuition.
Reason 4: admission to university without exams
Let's return to the University Pathway preparation program. If an applicant has no language test results or does not know the language well enough, or if exams are very stressful, the Pathway program can help. It's not just an English language course — students are also prepared for the specifics of studying in Canada, learning how to write academic papers, working on projects, and more.
But the main advantage of the program is that it allows you to enter a Canadian university or college without taking a language test. ILAC has more than 100 partner universities across the country that accept University Pathway graduates. You can take the course either face-to-face or online.
In practice, this is done as follows. The student applies to the university and receives a conditional admission letter with which he/she can apply for a student visa. In the conditional acceptance letter, there will be a requirement to prove your level of English before you start your studies. While the visa application is being processed (this may take several months), the student studies in the University Pathway program and confirms his or her language level with a certificate of completion.
One more plus. From time to time, some colleges run promotions and give Pathway program tuition to incoming students.
Reason 5: even more savings
We have already found out that one lesson at ILAC is not that expensive. But what if you could save even more on your language school tuition?
ILAC is constantly running promotions and discounts that can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars while still getting the same world-class English instruction. For example, there is currently a summer promotion for adult in-person programs, and in the spring the school gave away two weeks of free online tuition when you book 12 weeks and offered free tuition for parents who send their children to English courses.
We'll help you
