Teacher starts OnlyFans account because of low salary
Now the school where she works is going to fire her.
Kristen MacDonald, a social educator from Port Coquitlam, started an OnlyFans account and started selling 18+ content because of her low salary. Now the school where she works is demanding her account be deleted under threat of termination. Before condemning her, it's worth hearing her story: the local union of social educators believes that this is not her fault, but a disgrace to the education system.
A social pedagogue is a difficult and noble profession that sucks all the energy out of teachers. These people do not teach an entire class, but help teach special children: the deaf, the visually impaired, children with autism, etc. For a special child, such a teacher is very important: sometimes he or she becomes the only one through whom the child has an opportunity to explore the world and gain knowledge. Especially if there are no special schools in the city where the pedagogical staff knows how to work with children with disabilities. Kristen helps children with autism — she grew up with an autistic brother and has known how to care for them since childhood.
Unfortunately, this hard work is sometimes very poorly paid. Unlike ordinary teachers in British Columbia, social educators barely make ends meet. Because of this, they have to take part-time jobs. MacDonald gets tired at the end of the day and couldn't take extra jobs as a cashier or janitor. But nature has blessed her with spectacular looks. She decided to make some extra money by selling erotic photographs to 18+ people and opened an account OnlyFans under a pseudonym. It should be noted that this kind of work is completely legal in British Columbia. In addition, the content created is not pornography, as Kristen herself says.
However, one of the students' parents found her account, read the content and complained to the administration of her school. They sent her a letter and demanded that she delete all her accounts immediately, or else she would be fired.
Kristen's salary at school is only $50,000 CAD per year — with taxes deducted, that's only CAD 39 000. That's below the Canadian average wage and well below the average wage in British Columbia, one of the most expensive provinces in the country. The average person there makes CAD 70 500. Kristen's salary is the same as people just starting out in the workforce — entry level jobs in the region pay from CAD 48 500 a year. But she's been working at the school for nine years.
McDonald also has a family to feed, in particular a young daughter. The woman herself recently injured her back and now needs treatment. Some of the treatments are free, thanks to the Canadian health care system, but physical therapy and medications have to be paid for themselves.
In desperation, the woman turned to journalists. She told The Daily Hive that she kept an account under a pseudonym, it was only available to people over 18, and she also never gets naked in front of the camera — in all her photos she is at least in her underwear. Kristen thought these precautions were enough to keep her from losing her job. Now she's ready to delete the account — she loves school work too much. However, in this case, she and her family will have a hard time: the income will not be enough to live on again.
The school where Kristen works refused to comment. Lawyers and lawyers from British Columbia have appealed to the laws of the region. They require teachers to be seen as moral and set an example for students. But there are no such obligations for educational assistants, and Kristen takes that position. It turns out that the teacher has broken nothing: neither the provincial laws, nor her school's code of ethics. Lawyers and union representatives are going to fight for the girl, and they are determined. They believe that she should either get a pay raise or be allowed to continue working as part-time as she can.

Unfortunately, such cases are not uncommon. Last year in Montreal, an acting teacher who was already 73 years old was fired. No, she was not creating 18+ content, but she had played a nymphomaniac in an erotic feature film 43 years earlier. For the educational establishment, that proved reason enough to fire her. The union of such teachers is also annoyed: actors sometimes have to play unchildish and negative roles, including appearing naked in the frame, and this is normal for the profession.
