Canadian province finances tourism
The government will diversify the itinerary for travelers and visitors to Alberta.
Alberta is one of the world's most fascinating regions. And since many trails and routes have already been explored, the government decides to increase interest in places that have not yet become so popular, but definitely have the potential to become a new place to go for any traveler.
Each year, Travel Alberta invests about CAD 15 million to support travel businesses. According to the 2023 budget, Travel Alberta will receive CAD 10 million over two years to develop sustainable, year-round destinations in regions "outside of Alberta's most popular destinations."

Alberta’s government is proud to invest in our diverse tourism industry and draw in more visitors from around the world to come experience every corner of our great province," said Todd Loewen, Minister of Forestry, Parks and Tourism
The Alberta government intends to create conditions in which the tourism industry would earn CAD 20 billion in the next 10 years, and the development of rural tourism is a key factor in achieving this goal.
"Rural communities and tourism operators are key to the success of our visitor economy, welcoming visitors from across the world to experience Alberta’s unique spirit. This investment in rural tourism will drive economic development, support cultural preservation and create year-round employment opportunities for young people," David Goldstein, CEO of Travel Alberta.
In 2022 and early 2023, Travel Alberta funded 166 projects in 73 communities, about 75% of the province's projects.
