The timing of Express Entry's dramatic changes has been announced
A spokesman for the Department of Immigration issued a statement.
On July 19, a Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC) spokesperson said that targeted draws for Express Entry candidates, based on labor market demands, are scheduled for the first quarter of 2023:
"The department plans to consult with a wide range of stakeholders to communicate the new categories in Express Entry as required by law, and is preparing for technical implementation in the first quarter of 2023."
We wrote recently that Canada is doing everything possible to return to the pre-Visa model of the immigration system. One way to modernize it was to adopt a bill to invite candidates based on the needs of the economy.
Thus, as early as 2023, potential immigrants will be able to move to Canada because of their profession, language or level of education. The Ministry is still discussing whether the new system will replace the old one completely or whether additional rounds of draws will be added.
Recall that Express Entry selections have already resumed: 1,500 people were invited on July 6, with a passing score of 557.
