Ontario makes changes to immigration program

One of the streams will be more convenient to apply for.

The province of Ontario has introduced a revamped process for registering applications for permanent residency on the Business Stream. The application can now be submitted on the Online Portal Expression of Interest system, as in other Ontario immigration streams.

Previously, you had to contact provincial representatives by email to request a registration form.

Those who applied before Feb. 23, 2022, don't need to do anything: immigration officials will move it to the e-filing portal themselves and notify applicants how to access the site.

The requirements for entrepreneurial flow remain the same:

  • 2 years of experience in a supervisory position;
  • capital of $400,000 CAD ($800,000 CAD if the business is in Toronto);
  • investment of $200,000 CAD ($600,000 CAD if the business is in Toronto);
  • Knowledge of English or French at a basic level;
  • job creation.
