New immigration program to Canada launched
It will allow candidates with in-demand professions to immigrate.
The province of Saskatchewan has launched a new pilot immigration program that aims to attract professionals to jobs that are hard to fill.
Applications for the pilot will begin on January 15, 2022.
You will need to have a job offer in Saskatchewan to apply. A list of employers who will be able to hire under the program will be available at a later date.
Applicants must also meet a number of other requirements: have at least a high school education, have one year of work experience within the past three years in their home country or six months in Saskatchewan, and pass a CLB 4 in English or French. Truck drivers must also obtain a driver's licence in Saskatchewan.
The pilot has a list of professions that are suitable for application:
- professions in processing, manufacturing and recycling;
- food and beverage processing workers;
- workers in metal production;
- industrial painters;
- machine assemblers and inspectors;
- Food and beverage processing operators;
- sawmill operators;
- machining and forging machine operators;
- farm workers;
- construction helpers and handymen;
- heavy equipment operators;
- truck drivers;
- workers in freight handling;
- maintainers, caretakers, and commandants;
- cleaners;
- counter workers, kitchen assistants;
- hotel front desk staff;
- waiters;
- Elderly and sick care workers, housekeepers (family work is not suitable);
- other health professions;
- nurse assistants and orderlies;
- dispatchers;
- shippers and receivers.
