Canada has set another record for immigrant admissions

Every month more new residents arrive in the country.

November is another record month for Canadian immigration, with 47,434 new permanent residents. This is the all-time record in Canadian history, and the third consecutive record. In September, the number of new residents was 45,152, and in October, it was 46,371.

According to current data, the country welcomed 361,000 immigrants in 2021. With more than 45,000 people receiving permanent residency each month in the past 3 months, Canada will almost certainly meet its goal of receiving 401,000 immigrants in 2021.

Importantly, the figures take into account immigrants who have undergone landing, that is, either arrived in Canada with an immigrant visa or changed their work or student visa to an immigrant visa. Because of the pandemic in 2021, Canada has focused on those already in the country. They make up 70% of new immigrants, while only 30% come from abroad.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has already set immigration targets for 2022. The country will aim to welcome 411,000 new immigrants next year.

Accurate data on whether Canada has succeeded in meeting the 2021 plan will likely be available in January.
