Immigration plans and results, new restrictions and other news of the week

The most important news from November 1 to 7.

Immigration news

Canada held just two immigration draws in a week in which it called 498 candidates:

British Columbia expands list of cities to which entrepreneurs can immigrate under the Regional Program, which allows relocation to municipalities with a population under 75,000. Twenty-two cities are already on the list, with another 50 under consideration.

Canada's immigration results for September 2021 have been revealed. It turns out that this month was a record-breaking month in the history of Canadian immigration! The country managed to take in 45,000 new residents. In order to meet this year's target, we need to continue to hold that bar.

There is some negative news as well. The 6 new immigration streams launched in May closed, even though the Department of Immigration was considering extending candidate recruitment due to insufficient applications.

Jobs in Canada

Quebec intends to bring more workers to the province, and to do so is making it easier to hire foreigners in a number of occupations. The already existing list of professions with simplified processing has been supplemented with 30 professions. The list must now be approved by the federal government.

A conference was held in Canada, where representatives of leading colleges spoke. They told which specialties will be most in demand in the next 5-10 years. They can be studied in Canada for only 1-2 years, and colleges offer scholarships for international students up to $10 000 CAD.

Living and working in Canada is inextricably linked to costs, which are higher than in many countries. We've calculated spending across all categories for the average family: housing, food, communications, travel, pets and so on. The numbers per year can even be described as daunting, but the good news is that the average Canadian wage fully covers them.

Travel

New rules have come into force making it compulsory for travellers to be vaccinated against COVID-19. This applies even to those travelling within the country. A transition period is in effect until the end of November to allow those who haven't already done so to get vaccinated, and foreigners not living in Canada are given four months to leave Canada without the vaccine.

But such restrictions allowed the Canadian government to increase the number of airports receiving flights from abroad. Now it is possible to land at 18 points instead of 10.
