Quebec tells immigrants how to become part of society

$500,000 CAD will be allocated for the integration of immigrants.

On Oct. 3, Minister of Justice and Responsible for the French Language Simon Jolin-Barrett announced that the provincial government will allocate more than $500,000 CAD to promote the French language among immigrants.

Twelve associations will support the funding. They will work to integrate immigrants into project development. All this is aimed at increasing the use of the French language.

Separately, the Minister noted that immigrants must speak French to become part of Quebec society. This is especially true of the Montreal area.

The announcement came at a time when Quebec's proposed Law 96 is being considered for passage.
