Canada is likely to introduce vaccination passports

They will allow the opening of borders with other countries.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed that the country is in talks to open its borders and vaccination passports may be required for travel. The Prime Minister also stressed that experts are monitoring the COVID-19 situation every day.

"Once the time comes, we will reopen the borders, perhaps with the necessary vaccination certificates. But we haven't reached that point yet," Trudeau said. — "We need to ensure that when the time comes, we do the right thing to keep Canadians safe.

The prime minister did not give a definite answer as to when exactly the borders might open, but vaccination passports, he said, would almost certainly be introduced. However, Trudeau stressed that all decisions would be based on scientific evidence and agreed with other countries.

Meanwhile, the European Union is discussing with the U.S. the possibility of opening borders, which would allow U.S. residents to fly freely to EU countries and vice versa, but on the condition that travelers have a vaccination passport — the so-called digital green certificate. Canada is not involved in the talks.

Canada closed its borders to tourists last March and has no plans to open them any time soon.
