Immigration to Yukon for entrepreneurs

Foreign entrepreneurs who wish to own and operate a business in Yukon can immigrate through the Business Nominee stream.

The Yukon Business Nominee stream is designed for entrepreneurs who want to do business in the region and have the capital to invest.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this stream, you must meet the following requirements:

  • score a minimum of 65 points on the evaluation table;
  • have at least a high school education;
  • have a minimum of 3 years of experience in entrepreneurship or business management;
  • have a minimum of 5 years of work experience relevant to the future business;
  • own net worth of $500,000 CAD;
  • own liquid assets worth $300,000 CAD;
  • intend to invest at least $300,000 CAD in the business within 2 years;
  • hold a NOC level 0 or A position within the business (management and skilled trades).

Business eligibility

Under the Business Nominee stream, an entrepreneur can start a new business or purchase an existing business in Yukon. The business must belong to one of the sectors:

  • information technology;
  • manufacturing;
  • value-added processing;
  • forestry;
  • tourism;
  • energy;
  • mining or mineral development;
  • agriculture;
  • cultural industries;
  • film and video production.

How to apply

The applicant must complete the application for immigration and send it in paper copy to the address stated on the official website of the Yukon Territory. If approved, you will be able to arrive in the region to start your business. After 2 years, you will be eligible to apply for permanent residency.
