Rural and Northern Pilot Immigration Programme cash minimum increased

Useful information for those looking to relocate to northern Canada or rural areas.

This year marks an increase in the money needed to immigrate to Canada under the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Program.

Immigration Canada warns you: If you are immigrating to Canada, you should double-check that you have enough money to support your family. When you apply for immigration, you must show that you have enough money to support yourself and your family after your arrival in Canada. An exception to this is when you are immigrating on a work visa (a valid work permit).

The amount of money needed to support your family depends on its size:

Number of family members

(Including the ones you support,

even if they don't immigrate with you)

Funds required

(in CAD)

1

$9 096 USD

2

$11 323 USD

3

$13 920 USD

4

$16 902 USD

5

$19 169 USD

6

$21 621 USD

7

$24 071 USD

For each additional family member

$2450 USD

Note: You cannot borrow this money from another person. You must be able to use the money to pay your family's living expenses (even if family members are not moving to Canada with you).

Evidence of the availability of funds may include:

1. Bank statements

2. Documents that show you own real estate or other investments (stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills, etc.).

3. Documents that guarantee you will be paid a certain amount of money (for example, bank drafts, checks, traveler's checks, or money orders).
