Strengthening 5G and new jobs: Nokia is launching a large-scale project in Canada
The investment will boost the economy and open up more opportunities for Canadian residents, including students and entrepreneurs.
Nokia, a global telecommunications company, will launch a project in Canada that will help the country strengthen its position as a 5G leader, successfully transition to the next generation of wireless technology and expand digital innovation.
The project plans to increase Nokia's production facilities in Ottawa and create about 340 jobs. New research and development of wireless technologies will be actively carried out. They will also create conditions for internships for students who have chosen such areas as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This will be an excellent opportunity for students at universities or colleges in the country to gain valuable practical experience directly in the workplace.

In total, the investment amounts to 340 million CAD. The Canadian government supported such an innovative project, which should not only strengthen the development of the country's wireless infrastructure, but also provide decent jobs for the middle class and open new opportunities for Canadians, businesses, and entrepreneurs.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Nokia President and CEO Pekka Lundmark, and Nokia Canada President Jeffrey Maddox announced the initiative's launch on October 17.
"The project we’re announcing will help connect Canadians to the jobs of today and tomorrow. It will bring economic benefits to the National Capital Region and stimulate Canada’s tech ecosystem. This is about building a strong economy and a better future for everyone," said the Prime Minister during the meeting.
