Applications are closing for one of the sponsorship programs
A chance to move your parents and grandparents to Canada.
On October 10, IRCC sent out invitations under the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP). A total of 24,200 were sent, to which successful applicants must submit their applications in response. In total, the ministry will approve up to 15,000 of these applications, but they must be submitted in time for this work week. The deadline expires on Friday, Dec. 22 at 11:59 p.m. North American Eastern Time.
This year's drawing was held among applicants who filled out the application form back in 2020. The thing is that the program proved so popular that the ministry decided to limit the acceptance of new applications until the stock of old ones is at least partially exhausted.
Anyone who sent applications in 2020 is advised to urgently check their email — including their spam folder. In case you simply did not notice the letter from the Ministry of Immigration, you still have some time to take your chance and respond.
The Parent and Grandparents Program is a viable way to bring your elderly relatives to Canada for you. Those eligible for the program include Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are at least 18 years old, living in Canada, and can prove an income level to support a relative.
Instructions on how to write a response are available in the letter from the Ministry, and the application can be submitted online. It is currently unknown how many candidates have already responded.
Whether there will be an addition to the applicant pool for this program next year has not yet been announced.
